Triple Word Score and the Three-Strand Process

It’s finally here. The week you’ve been waiting for all year: National Scrabble Week! Did you know that Scrabble was originally called Lexiko? This challenging crossword game was invented by an out-of-work architect in the midst of the great depression. When the manufacturing rights were purchased from the inventor in 1948, the name was changed to “Scrabble,” which literally means, “to scratch frantically.” Now you can amaze your friends with this important trivia at the next party you attend. This historic game requiring proficient strategy and anagramming skills is not unlike the process that happens here at CHANGEffect. more »

“Just Do It” Slogan Turns 20

So what business is Nike in? Logically they are in the business of athletic sportswear and equipment. But if that was their genuine brand they wouldn’t be the 16+ billion dollar company they are. Instead they have created a brand around potential and courage. They utilize multipronged programs that incorporate experiential elements and push agency partners to move beyond simply creating ads.  more »

And the Winner of the Six-Word Story Contest is…

Recently, a couple members of our team were at a conference in Dallas. The Christian Leadership Alliance (formerly the Christian Management Association) had their annual conference there. We rocked the house like we usually do, but this time something was different. We asked conference attendees to write a six-word story representing their life, with the winning story earning that person a iPod Touch. We received dozens of responses with varying levels of intensity and humor. Click more to find out the Top 10 and the winner of the contest!  more »

Six-Word Story Contest a Success at CMA

Wow, what a story! Tim and I went to the newly branded Christian Leadership Alliance (CLA), formerly Christian Management Association. That’s a mindful! To premier our new booth, new CHANGEffect name and to attract people to our booth, we held a contest for people to tell their stories in just six words. This is a concept that was inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s “For sale: baby shoes, never used.” offering years ago. more »

    Change is in the Air

Change has been a big buzzword this year, especially among the politicians in the presidential campaign. One of the team members at C2 (one of our web development partners), sent us this You Tube video. We think it’s hilarious, considering that many of our clients refer to us simply as “CHANGE.” Enjoy. more »

    The Fray Unplugged and Mustaches

The crazy popular band The Fray capped off the second night of the Q Conference in midtown Manhattan (actually two of the four band members did the gig). They played an unplugged set that was a great way to chill out after almost 20 speaker talks on Wednesday and Thursday. They played familiar hits like “Over My Head” and “How To Save A Life” and cracked open several new songs off their upcoming album as well as a new mustache sported by the lead singer. It was the first time that the he had performed with the blond beauty and he complained about how it got jammed up in his microphone when he was singing. more »

    Ice Cream and Poverty

“Americans spend $20 billion a year on ice cream. Providing clean water and basic sanitation for the entire world would cost $7 billion a year for the next 10 years.” This quote comes from Chap Clark & Kara Powell’s book called Deep Justice in a Broken Worldmore »

Rock and Roll Snow in Chicago!

I’ve got a early meeting this morning with the Moody Radio folks in downtown Chicago today. The problem is that Chicago received 8 inches of snow overnight. In a last minute decision last night I decided to drive downtown so I wouldn’t have to fight the early morning commute. It’s been quite an adventure. If you’ve been in a snow storm in the Midwest before you’ll know what I mean.  more »
